WCC Monthly G/10 Chess Tournament

Tomorrow, March 28, 2017 @ 7:30 p.m. (Arrive by 7:00 p.m. please).

You are cordially invited to come out of hibernation, and join the Westport Chess Club at our monthly G/10 Chess Tournament!

Every last Tuesday of the month, our club hosts a rated Game-10 chess tournament in the Swiss format. However, you do NOT have to be a member of the USCF to participate. You will play four ten-minute games. The entry fee is $5. A win will net you $2.50, and a draw will get you $1.25.

This fast, but hopefully never furious tournament, is always lots of fun. Lower rated players have a chance to pounce on a blunder or two, and maybe even pop an opening surprise on a more experienced player. The clock can be a great equalizer in short time controls. Or not! 📚 But why not book-up on some actual openings, and give it a shot! (Yes, middlegames and endgames are also important, but you sometimes have to get to those stages, by NOT ruining your game in the first few moves. I think Ray may have said that once or twice).

<PLEASE don't drink and drive>🚑 😱 Remember, in addition to cheap Flea Market Chess Night food specials, they also serve coffee, and other non-alcoholic beverages as well. Mention the chess club when you order for your discount!

There are always other players available for non-tournament, casual play, so feel free to come to the club, even if you do not wish to play in the tournament. Registration begins at 6:45.

As always, we only LOOK expensive! The chess club nightly attendance fee is $2 for adults, and $1 for students, and feel free to attend as our guest, if this is your first visit to the club.

BRING YOUR CHESS CLOCK! 🕦🕦 ... if you have a functional chess clock, then please bring it along. If not, then no worries! There will still be enough clocks for the tournament.

We hope to see YOU at the Flea!
