Tuesday, May 3, 2016, 1st Tuesday of the month free G/60 chess tournament @ 7 PM (arrive by 6:45 please)
Alert! Our clocks are getting to be a bit "long in the tooth". Also, they are a pain in the ass to haul around! Collectively cumbersome and overly fragile. Help save our T.D. and fearless leader's back!
Please bring your chess clocks to the tournament. The first 10 players to show up with a chess clock before the tournament this Tuesday, will receive a free chess book or classic chess opening pamphlet. Your choice. First come first served. (The classic books with their "ancient" lines and games, sometimes make great novelties in our games. Especially in blitz. Especially at our typical non-masterly levels of play) 🐵
The tournament:
Every 1st-Tuesday of the month, our club hosts a rated Game-60 single-game-per-night chess tournament. You must be a member of the USCF to participate. Each player will have 60 minutes to make their moves, and there is no time delay. You will play only ONE game per night, up to 3 games per quarter, 12 games per year. Pairings will be created according to the USCF regular ratings of those participating. THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE ... just the regular nightly club fee of $2 for adults, and $1 for students. There are no prizes. This is just for regular game ratings. Registration begins at 6:30.
NOTE PLEASE. The G/60 games are rated at the end of each quarter.
There are always other players available for non-tournament, casual play, so feel free to come to the club, even if you do not plan to play in the tournament.
We hope to see you at the Westport Flea market! 🍔
