Dear chess friends,
Please read!
Just a few important housekeeping notes:
First of all, if you play in one of our tournaments, and happen to have a rules disagreement with your opponent, stop the clock and ask your friendly tournament director to come to your board to hear what is going on, and your T.D. will make a determination according to USCF rules. Do it then, not later in the game or after the game.
If you hear two players having a disagreement, and you are not one of our two T.D.s, then stay away from that board, do not interject yourself into that situation in any way whatsoever. It is actually not your business, no matter how kind and helpful you are as a human being ;-) (we have plenty of good things for helpful people to do around the club ... like sharing their chess knowledge with newcomers to chess, setting up boards and pieces, helping to pick-up at the end of the evening).

USCF Membership! When you are registering for a chess tournament, please do not tell us that you are a current, paid-up member of the USCF, if you are not indeed a current / paid-up member. This causes grave difficulties when trying to submit results to the USCF after the tournament has been played. Seriously, not good! If you have any question about your current status, then please go to their website and check it out.
Setting clocks! Please do not over-wind analog clocks. As for the Saitek digital clocks, it might be nice to know how to set one BEFORE it is time to start a game :-)

Your contribution towards that goal is always appreciated, and a few basic courtesies along the way can do a great deal to keep it that way.
We look forward to seeing you at the Westport Flea Market!
